Welcome to Carlisle & Brampton
Carlisle is a historic city and the county town of Cumbria as well as the administrative centre of the City of Carlisle district in North West England. Carlisle is located at the confluence of the rivers Eden, Caldew and Petteril, 10 miles south of the Scottish border.
Brampton, with a population of some 4,000 is built of local sandstone, and situated in a hollow formed by glacial action which took place during the ice-age.
In the centre of the town is the octagonal Moot hall, built in 1817, with an external staircase to its upper entrance, pointed windows and a square turret.
